Two works of great impact to discover the energy of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia, which arrives at the Palau de la Música Catalana under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada. The programme brings together two very different universes from the first third of the 20th century: the expansive emotion of Rachmaninov and the orchestral colour explosion of Stravinski. Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 is one of the most popular works of the piano repertoire, with melodies of irresistible lyricism and a score that demands from the soloist both virtuosity and expressive capacity. The piano will be in the hands of Nelson Goerner. With The Firebird, performed in its complete version, Stravinski transports us to a world of story, magic and fantasy through an orchestra full of colours and contrasts. From the great romanticism of the piano to the spectacularity of the orchestral ballet, two very different ways of seducing the listener.
