Michel Camilo Trio con Ricky Rodríguez y Antonio Sánchez

Monday, November 6, 2023. Michel Camilo is rehearsing in the orchestra hall of the Conservatori Liceu his two-piano concert with Marco Mezquida. The rehearsal ends and everything is joy and happiness. They understand each other very well. They leave and meet the saxophonist Donny McCaslin's quartet, which includes the drummer Antonio Sánchez, recently established in the Maresme. Michel advises Marco: "Now that you live here, you have to play with him. He is one of the best." Antonio nods, smiles and replies: "And one day I also have to play with you, Michel." Well, that day has arrived, a gift to celebrate our condition as sixty-year-olds: after almost two decades without playing in a trio in Barcelona, Michel Camilo returns to one of his reference venues, the Palau de la Música Catalana, with a new trio that incorporates Antonio Sánchez on drums, along with bassist Ricky Rodríguez. Pure dynamite. With a repertoire that will probably include originals by Camilo such as C aribe, From Within, And Sammy Walked In and On Fire, as well as jazz standards associated with his fertile career like A Night in Túnez, Song for My Father and Perdido. A concert of those that cannot be missed. IMPORTANT: Minors under 16 years old will only be able to access the venue accompanied by their father, mother or legal guardian. It is essential to present the Responsibility Sheet (see attached documents) properly printed and completed.
