L'elisir d'amore

L'elisir d'amore, by Gaetano Donizetti, is one of the great Italian bel canto operas and a delightful romantic comedy about the power of feelings. Nemorino, an innocent young man, is hopelessly in love with Adina, an intelligent woman who seems out of his reach. Desperate to win her, he relies on a supposed love elixir sold by the chatterbox Dulcamara, triggering a chain of misunderstandings and comic situations. With irresistible melodies—such as the famous aria Una furtiva lagrima—the opera combines humor and emotion to remind us that, beyond filters and deceptions, the true engine of the story is the sincerity of love.
