Fidelio

After conducting the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Pablo Heras-Casado returns to the Sala de Concerts to lead the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and the Monteverdi Choir in one of Beethoven's masterpieces. Heras-Casado is accompanied by a solid international cast, including David Butt Philip, Julia Kleiter, Johanna Wallroth, Christian Immler and Milan Siljanov, to tackle the composer's only opera. Fidelio holds a unique place in Beethoven's legacy, an opera of love, heroism and struggle against injustice, with Leonore as the central protagonist and featuring vocal and choral moments of great impact. Freedom, justice and fraternity permeate the work, anticipating some of the ideals Beethoven would express years later in the Novena Sinfonía. In the year of the composer's bicentennial, an opportunity to discover the most theatrical and deeply humanist Beethoven, perfectly in tune with the peace theme of the Palau season.
