Ferrández, González-Monjas & Musikkollegium Winterthur

Cellist Pablo Ferrández, awarded in the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, will perform Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto (1918), considered the most important work in the instrument's repertoire composed in the 20th century. He will be accompanied by the Musikkollegium Winterthur, a Swiss formation with over two hundred years of history, under the direction of Roberto González-Monjas, also music director of the Sinfónica de Galicia and principal conductor of the Mozarteumorchester Salzburgo. The programme also includes the Spanish premiere of Caprice à l'espagnole by Richard Dubugnon, and Symphony No. 5 'The Reformation' by Felix Mendelssohn, written to celebrate the religious reforms in Germany in the 16th century. This concert is part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals.
