Exposició "Suro i futur. Dissenyant possibilitats"

The exhibition "Cork and future. Designing possibilities" shows how cork can have applications in such diverse fields as cosmetics, architecture, sustainable construction, or the natural purification of water. All this with a clear objective: to make use of the potential of a renewable, local material with great environmental value. Among the highlighted projects are the proposals of the company Quimivita, which bets on sustainable cosmetics with products made from cork. On the one hand, Exfobreeze, a natural exfoliant made with microgranulated cork; and on the other, UpCork Aox, a natural antioxidant-rich ingredient designed to improve skin firmness and hydration. The exhibition also features the participation of the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), which investigates new ways to use recycled and low-yield cork in architecture and construction. At the show, one can see sheets of agglomerated cork with sustainable materials and even a construction demonstrator with robotics and cork. On its part, the Catalan Cork Institute presents projects related to the natural purification of water through vegetative systems such as constructed wetlands, green roofs, or vegetative facades, where cork by-products act as a biosorbent element.
