Agrippina

Agrippina brings together some of the leading voices of the international scene in one of Handel's most popular operas. Magdalena Kožená takes the lead role alongside Julia Lezhneva, two singers of renowned reputation already known to the audience of Palau de la Música Catalana and who have been protagonists of the Palau Grans Veus cycle. The opera, which had not been heard in Barcelona for years, combines intrigue, ambition and power struggles in a plot centred on Agrippina and her manoeuvres to ensure her son Nerone accedes to the throne of Rome, with arias as popular as Come nube che fugge dal vento or Voi che udite il mio lamento. Alongside Kožená and Lezhneva, the cast includes Christophe Dumaux, Adèle Charvet, Nicolas Brooymans, Adrien Fournaison and Paul Figuier. Les Accents, with Thibault Noally on violin and conducting, complete a bill in which the voices are the main protagonists.
