Trobada de Gegantes Elisendes

The Fal·lera Cortsenca Foundation, which groups the Pastorets and Gegants of Les Corts, and the Barcelona City Council, through the Les Corts District and the Monastery of Pedralbes, organize the first meeting of neighborhood giant groups in the monastery square. With the aim of celebrating the figure of Queen Elisenda de Montcada, founder of the Monastery, and advocating for popular culture and the Giant Dance in the neighborhood, the Elisendes de Catalunya have been invited to meet and dance around the place she founded in 1326. The day, which coincides with an open doors day at the monastery, will begin at 10 h with a children's morning with various workshops in the square and the Joaneta and Queen Elisenda storytelling, at 11 h, in the Monastery of Pedralbes. At 11.30 h, at the Pedralbes cross, the planting of Elisendes and other giants will take place, who will then head to the monastery square. This special day will feature the presence of the Gegants de les Corts, the Gegants del Pi, the Gegants de Sant Quintí de Mediona, the Gegants de Montcada i Reixac and the Gegants de Puigcerdà, each with their own Elisenda, who will perform a joint dance in the monastery square. At 12 h, the Elisenda de les Corts will perform a historical dance in the Monastery of Pedralbes, and at 12.30 h the procession will begin, closing the day, with the presentation of all the giants and the individual and joint dance of the Elisendes, in the square.
