Misery

Based on the novel by Stephen King. Paul Sheldon suffers a car accident in the middle of a snowstorm and wakes up days later at Annie Wilkes' house, the woman who rescued him. Is he really in good hands? Misery (1987), by Stephen King, is a standout work of contemporary psychological horror that, beyond suspense, functions as a metaphor for addiction and the complex relationship between an author and their audience. The theatrical adaptation by William Goldman, based on the novel and the 1990 film script, transforms the story into an intense psychological duel between two characters in a single stage space, maintaining the tension until the end.
