Guacamayo

> Inauguration of Dansat Festival & Ciutat Flamenco Festival > Guacamayo captures the wild nature of flamenco on a canvas, achieving the blurring of limits between disciplines to radically expand the possibilities of the creative act. Through singing, dance, and guitar, Guacamayo traces an arc of transformation: the dancer becomes a macaw, while the stage space, which begins as a blank canvas, progressively mutates until it becomes an Amazonian forest. The work seeks to transcend visual perception to capture the ephemeral essence of jondo art and the creative act, making it tangible through real-time pictorial strokes. José Maldonado is a Barcelona-based dancer and choreographer who fuses traditional flamenco with the avant-garde. He has traveled the world with artists such as Manuel Liñán, Rocío Molina, Marco Flores, Rafaela Carrasco, Antonio Canales, Javier Latorre, María Pagés, Blanca Li, Belén López, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, or Carlos Saura. In the shows he produces himself, he combines flamenco with his other great passion, the visual arts. * Estrella Damm invites you to a post-show talk with the company, moderated by the dancer, choreographer, and teacher Jose Manuel Álvarez. * This piece has received the 2025 Barcelona CREA SAT! Scholarship. For the third consecutive year, the Ciutat Flamenco Festival and Dansat Festival are once again adding their synergy. One of our reasons for being is to generate synergies with entities, festivals, artists, and creators who share the commitment to quality and passion for dance. The flamenco of this friendly festival is always a safe bet for excellence and emotion.
