Cavalleria rusticana i Pagliacci

Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci are two passionate dramas presented with all their rawness, featuring relatable characters and human passions taken to the extreme. In Cavalleria rusticana, set in rural Sicily on Easter Day, a drama of jealousy, honor, and revenge unfolds: Turiddu, returning from military service, resumes his relationship with Lola, now married to Alfio. When Santuzza, Turiddu's fiancée, discovers the infidelity, she reveals it to Alfio, triggering a fatal conclusion. In Pagliacci, set in a town in Calabria during the August Virgin Mary festival, a traveling theatre company hides similar tensions: Canio discovers his wife Nedda's betrayal and, unable to separate life from stage, ends up turning the theatrical performance into a real tragedy before the audience.
