—Humanity in war. 20 October 2026.
Thomas Quasthoff returns to the stage, this time to give voice to the words. The legendary German bass-baritone, one of the great figures of Lied, opera and oratorio of his generation, takes on the role of narrator alongside the Amatis Trio in Humanity in war, a proposal that seeks traces of humanity amidst the barbarity of war. Music and words intertwine through letters and diaries of soldiers from different nationalities and their families, testimonies of fear, death and disillusionment, but also of moments of hope and fraternity, such as the Christmas truce. Quasthoff's readings dialogue with the interpretations of the Amatis Trio, formed by Lea Clara Hausmann, Samuel Shepherd and Mengjie Han, and with music by Korngold, Webern, Schubert, Schumann, Shostakóvich, Kreisler and Rebecca Clarke.
