Permagel

The theatrical adaptation of Permagel, directed by the multi-award-winning Victoria Szpunberg, starring actress Maria Rodríguez Soto and based on the novel by Eva Baltasar, published by Club Editor. Published in 2018, the novel became a true literary phenomenon thanks to its direct voice and full of black humour, capable of tackling taboo themes with intelligence such as lesbian desire, masturbation, suicide and motherhood. The play surprised the author herself and earned her recognitions such as the Premi Llibreter de Literatura Catalana and the Premi Ojo Crítico de Narrativa, as well as being a finalist for the prestigious Médicis Étranger. The theatrical adaptation, signed by Victoria Szpunberg and Albert Pijuan, and co-produced by Dagoll Dagom and Barc, is one of the season's major bets: a piece that discomforts and moves equally, and invites the audience to look inward without filters. The heartbeat of life. The vertigo of disappearing. A lesbian suicidal woman embarks on an inner journey where she challenges the family, romantic love and even her own idea of survival. Through reading and sex, she seeks the tables of salvation to face an existence marked by lucidity, fear and the desire for freedom. Her voice, poetic and painful, aims to break the symbolic permagel that keeps her away from life. The heartbeat of life. The vertigo of disappearing.
