Eu Manzanares writes in Per amor (a pact of honour) about a wedding between friends. An act of love. A confrontation with the system. Because there are loves that don't fit into any law. Sandra and Mateo are married "on paper": she is from Barcelona and he is Chilean. Their marriage stems from a pact of friendship to protect themselves from a system that condemns them to precarity and unjust laws. They made this pact of honour. And they did it for love. But sustaining this fiction ultimately puts the most fragile thing at risk: their bond. When, after a time apart, Sandra asks him for an ethically questionable favour, they are both forced to confront uncomfortable questions about debt, responsibility and the meaning of their relationship. The show avoids easy judgements and raises uncomfortable questions about responsibility, emotional debt, and the boundaries between romantic love and friendship. A current, moving and relatable play that connects with pressing social issues without losing its human dimension. At times, the performances can feel a little over-the-top, meaning some emotional nuances don't quite land with the full force the material might allow. Nevertheless, the chemistry between the two characters is evident and carries the entire play. Ultimately, it's an emotional and contemporary piece that highlights the need to re-examine how we look at and understand others. A great comedy, very well written and wonderfully performed. A very interesting and engaging play, both for its critical and witty dramaturgy and its performance. Highly recommended. The new offering from Sala Flyhard is a comedy that speaks to us about the love of friendship, the bonds we create with other people, the responsibilities of our actions and the fragility of
