L’ELISIR D’AMORE

'L'elisir d'amore', one of the great masterpieces of Italian bel canto, is a story of pure, transparent, and sincere love with which Gaetano Donizetti signs an authentic masterpiece of the comic genre.

ONE OF THE MOST LOVED PIECES OF THE OPERATIC REPERTOIRE, WITH THE OPERA FOUNDATION OF CATALONIA

The protagonist is Nemorino, a naive young man in love with Adina, a rich and apparently out-of-reach intelligent girl, who relies on a supposed love elixir to conquer her. The mysterious remedy, sold by the chatterbox Dulcamara, triggers misunderstandings and comic situations that end revealing that the true engine of the story is the sincerity of the feelings. When Nemorino unexpectedly inherits a fortune, Adina discovers that she also loves him, while Dulcamara attributes the ending to his potion. Humor, sensitivity, and irresistible melodies such as the aria 'Una furtiva lagrima', one of the most famous pages of Italian opera.
