L'elisir d'amore

L'elisir d'amore, one of the great Italian bel canto operas, is a story of pure, transparent and sincere love with which Gaetano Donizetti signs an authentic masterpiece. A comedy that combines humour, sensitivity and irresistible melodies, such as the celebrated aria Una furtiva lagrima, one of the most well-known of Italian opera. The protagonist is Nemorino, an innocent young man who is in love with Adina, a rich and apparently out-of-reach intelligent girl, who trusts in a supposed love elixir to conquer her. The mysterious remedy, sold by the peddler Dulcamara, triggers misunderstandings and comic situations. When Nemorino inherits a fortune, Adina discovers that she also loves him, while Dulcamara attributes the ending to the miracles of his potion.
