For over a decade, Amposta has become one of the main gathering points for performing arts in southern Catalonia thanks to festicAM, the International Theatre and Circus Festival. The event brings together companies, creators, and audiences annually around a programme combining circus, physical theatre, and street performances. Born in 2013 through the initiative of the Escola de Teatre i Circ d'Amposta and the city council, the festival has consolidated as a showcase for innovative artistic proposals from both Catalonia and the international sphere. At the same time, it offers meeting spaces between professionals and fosters the exchange of experiences among creators from different disciplines. Based in the capital of Montsià, the festival contributes to reinforcing the role of the Ebre Lands within the Catalan cultural landscape and maintains close ties with reference networks and platforms for performing arts. This projection has allowed it to obtain recognitions such as the European EFFE seal and establish collaborations with entities dedicated to supporting contemporary creation. Driven by the Escola de Teatre i Circ d'Amposta and co-organized with the Amposta city council, the project counts on the support of various cultural institutions and maintains the commitment to bringing live arts to the citizenry and promoting the presence of quality stage proposals in the territory.
