Exposició "Neix en l'aire la primera flor"

Anna Irina Russell's practice (Barcelona, 1993) is oriented towards sculpture and installation as a place from which to model other forms of language, the body, and life. With great respect for the expressive capacity of matter, in recent years she has focused her research on experimenting with soft and inflatable materials with which she puts her touch at the service of what has no place in words and not even in the image: the overflow, the contagion, the asphyxiation; that which exists, but perhaps is not. This exhibition unfolds the body of Anna Irina Russell's work related to breathing. Understood as a basic gesture to think of contact both with the other and with oneself, breathing –like language– is noticed only in the lack. Only when we lack words, when we become incapable of an inspiration, do we remember our constitutive vulnerability. With this show, conceived as a lung that expands and lives with every entry of known/unknown air, the museum becomes the organism that at once embodies and makes visible the precariousness of breathing as well as offers us a space to oxygenate ourselves.
