An awaited reunion to present one of the cornerstones of the symphonic-choral repertoire, Mozart's Requiem. The concert will open with the striking Chamber Symphony by Shostakovich, which will set the emotional tone for the evening. With the Cor Madrigal and a quartet of voices of great sensitivity, this concert promises emotion and spirituality. D. Shostakovich: Chamber Symphony, op. 110 W.A. Mozart: Requiem, KV 626 It was founded by Manuel Cabero in 1951 and from 1993 to 2019 Mireia Barrera was the chief conductor. Since September 2019, Pere Lluís Biosca has assumed the direction. The choir shows a preference for the repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a special interest in the dissemination of Catalan authors. Simultaneously, it maintains important activity in the symphonic field, mainly in collaboration with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, having been the choir attached to the Auditori and the OBC. It has been conducted by great conductors such as Alessandrini, Celibidache, Cambreling, Currentzis, Decker, Foster, Frühbeck de Burgos, Gardolinska, Gergiev, González, Haenchen, Hager, King, Mas, Mena, Ono, Oue, Pablo Pérez, Pinnock, Pons, Ros Marbà, Rostropovitx, Sagripanti or Soustrot. During the period when Manuel Cabero was at the helm, it performed in the world premiere of Falla's Atlàntida. Guillermo García Calvo, conductor Guillermo García Calvo has developed an extensive career as a conductor on international stages such as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Wiener Staatsoper or the Paris Opera, among others, and Spanish ones such as the Oviedo Opera, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona or the Teatro Real and the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. He made his operatic debut in 2003 with Hänsel and Gretel at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn (at 25 years old) and, in 2009, he replaced Daniele Gatti in a new production of Macbeth of the Wiener Staatsoper, a stage with which he has maintained a close relationship since 2002, having been responsible for the musical preparation of more than fifty operatic titles and having directed more than 200 opera and ballet performances.
