Coral Escriny

The Coral Escriny de Santpedor returns to the Kursaal with Misatango, a musical journey to Argentina at the end of the 20th century, in collaboration with two key composers of contemporary choral music: Carlos Guastavino (1912-2000) and Martín Palmeri (1965). The concert will begin with Guastavino, featuring the suite Indianas from 1967, consisting of six compositions for choir and piano inspired by traditional Argentine melodies based on texts by various Argentine poets and writers. From Martín Palmeri, his well-known Misa a Buenos Aires (Misatango) is presented, a 1996 work for choir, piano, bandoneon, string quartet, double bass, and solo soprano. An exquisite piece in which moments of immense strength are combined with passages of extraordinary subtlety, set against the backdrop of the harmonic and rhythmic counterpoint so characteristic of Argentina's most popular dance.
