Yoel Vargas - Ciutat Flamenco

YOEL VARGAS Óbito - Premiere in Barcelona. With Óbito, Yoel Vargas and Juan Manuel de las Heras take death and mourning as the starting point for a creation inspired by the diverse cultural ways of coping with the loss of a loved one. Flamenco, classical and contemporary music intertwine to reflect on memory, absence and transformation.
Born in Tarragona in 2003, Yoel Vargas has consolidated himself as one of the most promising emerging figures in current flamenco. Winner of the «El Desplante» award at the 2023 International Festival of Cante de las Minas and recognized by Dance Magazine as one of the «25 to Watch» of 2025, he develops an artistic language that combines the roots of flamenco with an open view towards new stage languages.
