Rodoreda, in roher state In an inn crossed by tensions and silences, Andreu exercises his dominion over three women: his wife Magdalena; his mother, who has lost her speech; and the maid Camèlia, who, like all the previous ones, has become his lover. But Camèlia is not content with her role and aspires to become the mistress. From this core, L'hostal de les tres Camèlies explores power relations, submission and resistance. With her incisive gaze, Rodoreda brings into play themes such as patriarchal control, rivalry and solidarity between women, and violence, often silent, that crosses affective and social bonds.
